The Majestic Parade of Angles

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

The core of the month of Ramadan is Laylat Al-Qader that lies in the last ten days. Jibreel AS came down to tell the messenger of Allah PBUH about the night, but Allah commanded him to refrain from conveying it, for two men engaged in an argument. Ever since Muslims spend the last ten days detecting this glorified night to attain its goodness

{Indeed, we have sent down the Revelation-Quran in the night of Qader} 97:1

In this night the Quran transferred from the unseen world to the seen (visible) world. from the world of Al-Ghaib to the world of Al-Shahada.

{and what will make you understand the night of Al-Qader} 97:2

Laylat Al-Qader translated in many ways:

  • The night of power

  • The night of destiny

  • The night of glory

  • The night of decree

  • The grand night

Qader's definition carries many layers, everyone elevates you to a different degree:

  1. The portion of mercy Allah writes for you on this night

  2. The destiny

  3. The value

  4. The magnitude

  5. The honor

  6. The greatness and magnificence

  7. The rank of yourself in the sight of Allah

  8. The status of Allah in yourself

It is the night equivalent to more than 1000 months. One night equals 83 years worth living in worship and obedience. It is a life-changing chance waiting for you.

{The Night of Qader (Grand Night of Destiny) is better than a thousand nights} 97:3

This exceptional night resembles a celebration between earth and heaven in a majestic angelic parade lead by Jibreel AS

{The angles along with the spirit descend in it by the permission of their Lord with all kinds of decrees} 97:4

"The doors of heaven are open, angels are landing & taking shifts, a divine light brightens the globe, and a great reverence overtakes the night." As Abu Huraira RA explained.

Among the angelic activities in Laylat Al-Qader, Jibreel (AS) will spread his wings to cover the two ends of the horizon, angels visit pious people, worship Allah with them, convey to Allah what they witness of people's generosity and good deeds. They also salute the believers, and whomever the angels salute him, he will be granted forgiveness.

Peace dominates the scene until sunrise

{peace-salam on this night until the rising of dawn} 97:5

The source of the peace is the angles. Their salutation to the believers is a sign of peace. Peace also means the safety of any harm during that night. It was the same peace that accompanied the first revelation of the divine Quran.

The ultimate connection between heaven and earth happens in Laylat Al-Qader; it's the night of mercy and forgiveness, and emancipation The messenger of Allah PBUH said: "whoever is forbidden of its goodness, indeed he's forbidden."

It was vivid for our pious forefathers that finding their beautiful destiny of Laylat Al-Qader requires hard work. It was explicit that this hard work pays off better than expected. Therefore, they kept their beds tidy and became diligent in worship all night.

Don't look for the signs of Laylat Al-Qader anywhere except for in yourself. Tranquility, serenity, reverence, elevation, and connection are the signs that you need to feel to attain Layalt Al-Qader.

Indeed, your Qader is different than mine, so don't wait until someone tells you: "tonight is the night"; instead, be diligent in finding your Qader.

The theme of the last ten days of Ramadan is Ihya'. Ihya' means bringing life to something about to die or died already. Your heart is tired and heavy; get it back to life in those beautiful nights of ihya. Witer nights are your target, It's even better if you target all nights of the last Asher, for the Hadith of Aisha RA:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to seclude himself (in the mosque) during the last ten nights of Ramadan. He would say, "Search for Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree) in the last ten nights of Ramadan."

Twining and argument block your Qader, be aware that staying away from meaningless talks is your key to success this Asher. Your goal is clear, and you are determined not to miss this opportunity worth every sacrifice.

{O children of Adam, take your adornment at every place of prayer} 7:31

Your apparent adornment is your clean and perfumed clothes, body, and your worship corner. Your interior adornment is your repentance and purification of the sins and low desires.

You can attain the reward of this night by staying in Ihya' to perform prayers of fardh, sunna, and nafel. Quran recitation, duaa, thiker & istighfar, feeding poor, giving Sadaqa, helping someone, being nice, preserving your valuable time, and you may also do i'tikaf at home.

The messenger of Allah taught Aysha RA this duaa for Layalt AL-Qader: "O, Allah! Indeed You are Oft-forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me."

O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all my affairs and determination to follow the right path, I ask You to make me thankful for Your blessings and to make me worship You properly. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the best of what You know, and I seek refuge in You from the worst of what You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know.

Amen
